Notch is a local-only Mac app. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. No account, no cloud sync, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs. This page exists because the Mac App Store requires every app to publish a privacy policy — most of it is "we don't do that."
None. Notch runs entirely on your Mac. Your task names, session history, productivity stats, achievements, and settings are stored in your local Application Support folder (or the app sandbox container, on macOS 14+). They never leave your device.
None. Notch does not link to any third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The app binary contains zero non-Apple frameworks — you can verify this by inspecting the app bundle.
Notch makes one type of network call:
The app also opens links in your browser when you click items in the About panel (Website, Privacy Policy, Terms, etc). These are standard NSWorkspace.shared.open(url:) calls — no data is sent, the browser simply navigates to the URL.
Notch supports opt-in crash reporting via Sentry, off by default. If you enable it in Settings → Privacy & Diagnostics, anonymized stack traces are sent to our Sentry account when the app crashes. What's sent: the crash stack, macOS version, device model. What's never sent: task names, session data, settings, or any user-generated content. You can disable it any time.
The following files live in ~/Library/Containers/rocks.notch.macos/Data/Library/Application Support/Notch/ (when sandboxed) or ~/Library/Application Support/Notch/ (development builds):
sessions.json — your focus session history (task names, durations, timestamps)templates.json — your saved activity templatesstats.json — productivity tier, total minutes, streak counterpoints.json — accumulated activity pointsYou can inspect these files at any time. Deleting them resets the app — no harm done. Notch never reads them outside its own process.
This privacy policy is a static webpage with no cookies, no scripts, no tracking. The notch.rocks website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics (server-side, no cookies, no PII, GDPR-clean by default).
Notch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone — including minors.
If we ever change how the app handles data, this page is updated and the "Last updated" date at the top changes. Material changes will also be announced in the app itself before the next launch.
